Holy crap, this is amazing. Did you know the log in your own eye could be the key to heaven after all??
I want to be coldly analytical, not moralize, here. I want to tell you what Mr. Gingrich’s behavior could mean for the country, not for the future of his current marriage. So, here’s what one interested in making America stronger can reasonably conclude—psychologically—from Mr. Gingrich’s behavior during his three marriages:
When three women want to sign on for life with a man who is now running for president, I worry more about whether we’ll be clamoring for a third Gingrich term, not whether we’ll want to let him go after one.
No … he managed to fool three people into thinking he would be faithful to them by making a promise – sanctioned and mandated by GOD no less – to be with them until death. That was a lie that he was able to sell by way of his charisma … and if the 2008 elections were any indicator, the GOP thinks charisma is bad. At least if a Democrat has it.
I can only hope Mr. Gingrich will be as direct and unsparing with the Congress, the American people and our allies [as he was with his wives when he FINALLY told them about his affairs. -ed.]. If this nation must now move with conviction in the direction of its heart, Newt Gingrich is obviously no stranger to that journey.
What the hell is so direct about screwing someone else behind your wife’s back after making a promise to them that you had no intention of keeping??
[Newt’s children] have judged the father who left their family, then remarried twice. And they judge him 10 out of 10. I only hope my own children love me and respect me as much when they are adults.
I could only hope that my kids would love and respect me after showing them that I am pathologically incapable of showing any respect to the person to whom I am married. It’s nice that his kids give him a pass, but he wouldn’t get it from me. I would constantly be worried about how long would it take for him to sell me out too.
If you’re going to make the suggestion that one’s behavior to their spouse provides insight into their ability to govern, you’d better hope they did a good job. Newt didn’t. He was dishonest, unfaithful, and had the audacity to publicly condemn others for the same transgressions. With that to work with, it’s best to just not say anything. Seriously.
He had an affair with his future second wife while married to his first. He had an affair with his future third wife while married to his second.
Three guesses on what he’s doing now that he’s married to the third.
I’m setting my watch.
