Wilmington council puts satirical spin on reproductive legislation

In the spirit of legislated-but-medically-unnecessary pre-abortion ultrasounds, mandatory waiting periods, personhood amendments, and religious “conscience clauses”, the Wilmington City Council made their own contribution to the national dialog regarding the size of government and its pathological obsession with women’s sex lives.

“[E]ach ‘egg person’ and each ‘sperm person’ should be deemed equal in the eyes of the government and be subject to the same laws and regulations as any other dependent minor and be protected against abuse, neglect or abandonment by the parent or guardian,” according to the resolution.

I give a hearty applause to the city council for being enough of a bunch of smartasses to not only put forth such a measure, but to approve it 8-4.  Some people might not have found the humor, but this will go a long way to protest those pre-born people who haven’t yet met up with the other half of their genetic code yet.  Now, if only the government were able to do more for their citizens carrying all those potential people …
