Charlie Fuqua, Arkansas Legislative Candidate, Endorses Death Penalty For Rebellious Children In Book
Charlie Fuqua, the Republican candidate for the Arkansas House of Representatives who called for expelling Muslims from the United States in his book, also wrote in support for instituting the death penalty for “rebellious children.”
In “God’s Law,” Fuqua’s 2012 book, the candidate wrote that while parents love their children, a process could be set up to allow for the institution of the death penalty for “rebellious children,” according to the Arkansas Times. Fuqua, who is anti-abortion, points out that the course of action involved in sentencing a child to death is described in the Bible and would involve judicial approval.
The maintenance of civil order in society rests on the foundation of family discipline. Therefore, a child who disrespects his parents must be permanently removed from society in a way that gives an example to all other children of the importance of respect for parents. The death penalty for rebellious children is not something to be taken lightly. The guidelines for administering the death penalty to rebellious children are given in Deut 21:18-21:
Of course, applying the death penalty for a disrespectful child – as prescribed by the law set forth in the Book of Deuteronimbostratosaurus – should obviously be used with great care and deliberation, am I right? Seriously, why we’re even considering the application of a barbaric 3,200 year old set of laws in modern society is beyond my ability to comprehend. It sounds like this guy decided to open his bible to the same book that goes on about how icky gay people are to see what else he can dredge up from a best forgotten time. I anticipate new laws on requiring women to marry their rapists after a sufficient payment by the assailant, as well as new guidelines on human trafficking and genocide. I wouldn’t want to go about any of those in a way that would displease our divine head of state, after all.
At this point, of course, I had to go to his website to see if there were any additional ruminations about life, society, and us dirty liberals. I was not let down. Here’s what he wrote about the apparent “connection” between Islam and liberalism:
There is a strange alliance between the liberal left and the Muslim religion. It may be that since both are the enemies of Christianity, that they both believe that, my enemy’s enemy is my friend. However there are several similarities between the two. Both are antichrist in that they both deny that Jesus is God in the flesh of man, and the savior of mankind. They both also hold that their cause should take over the entire world through violent, bloody, revolution. Both want to end freedom of speech so that their doctrine cannot be criticized. Neither can survive in a free marketplace of ideas. They both lack an understanding of the true nature of God. That is, that God wants us to freely choose to love, warship, and serve him because we understand that he loved us while we were in the unlovable state of complete rebellion to him. God does not want to force himself on anyone. Love for him must be a free choice. Both Communism and the Muslim religion want to deny man that choice.
I know Muslims have recently pushed to outlaw criticism of Mohammad, lest someone is insulted and has to shoot a few innocent bystanders out of sheer rage, but I’m at a bit of a loss as to how the same ideas apply to liberalism. Oh yeah, he’s just making it up in order to try to create the illusion of a relationship between the two. And obviously, the Christian God doesn’t want to force himself on you. Actually, these days, he’s more than happy to let all of his followers do that for him.
He also parrots the same tired crap about our current president being a Muslim terrorist …
We know that Barack Obama spent his formative years in a fundamentalist Muslim school in Indonesia, and that when he moved to Chicago, he attended the church of Reverend Jeremiah Wright for twenty years. We also know that Barack Obama’s political debut was in the home of William Ayers who was associated with the Weather Underground, a group that tried to bring about a violent communist revolution in the United States in the 1960’s. They placed bombs in police stations and plotted to blow up the Pentagon. We now have a president that has a well documented history with both the Muslim religion and Communism.
… yet he clearly doesn’t seem to think enough of either one to apply them in any measurable way to either his foreign or domestic policies. Unless you think progressive taxation is a communist plot … hell, the marginal tax rate was over 90% during the administration of that pinko liberal Dwight D. Eisenhower.
He thinks global warming is a hoax and would, at worst, allow plants to make more food for us. In the same blog he appears to advocate creationism, which should immediately waive this man’s right to be in any position of power:
Those who claim that we are all going to die due to global warming claim that this is going to happen due to the burning of fossil fuel which produces CO2. However if the concentration of CO2 increases only slightly, plants grow faster and produce more food for mankind and remove the excessive CO2 from the atmosphere and put more oxygen in the atmosphere. It appears that someone more intelligent than man designed a system that is very difficult for us to mess up. I need to repent of my sin of calling what man is doing to destroy the earth “Global Warming”, I believe now the climate fear mongers are afraid that the excess CO2 is going to cause global cooling and so now the proper thing to call this problem is “Climate Change”. We are told that in the last 100 years that the average temperature of the earth has increased by 0.7 degrees. My question is, were there thermometers uniformly scattered all over the earth 100 years ago to measure and record the temperature. More importantly, was there a thermometer 100 years ago that was accurate enough to measure a 0.7 degree change in temperature? I don’t think so.
Yes, there were. Global temperature measurements actually started around 1850 from land stations and naval vessels. So while you may have gotten a degree in the physical sciences, you don’t appear to apply any amount of rational thought or scientific inquiry into the issue of global warming. You just throw up your hands after not bothering to find the answers to your own simple questions and run away, safe in your deliberate ignorance. Classic creationist mentality (argument from personal incredulity, anyone??).
And here’s an excerpt from his biography:
As Arkansas State Representative, he was awarded the “Friend Of The Family” award from the Arkansas Christian Coalition. He has also been a qualified Gideon Church speaker, board member and legal counsel for the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Rogers, Arkansas, board member for the Richardson Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a mediation panelist for the Christian Justice Center of Northwest Arkansas, and coach of a youth roller hockey team. He has also served as a board member and president on the board of the Alpha Pregnancy Center in Batesville, Arkansas.
So not only does he deny the science that tells us the earth is warming up and that it wasn’t created by a giant, all powerful invisible sky fairy … but he served on the board of directors of two crisis pregnancy centers. For those who aren’t familiar, they’re the so-called “clinics” that engage in routine misinformation and delay tactics in order to prevent women from understanding what all of their options are until it’s too late to safely and practically obtain an abortion.
It’s no surprise he’s part of that crew, or that he’s made it no secret that he fully intends to cram God into every nook and cranny of government if given the chance. The important thing is that he not be given that chance. The last thing this country needs – in any level of government – is someone who is so dangerously anti-intellectual, anti-science, anti-woman, and anti-life that his mere presence in the state legislature would roll back the clock of social progress at least a hundred years, if not more.
Yeah, we liberals are the real enemies of the state …
EDIT: This is the Twitter feed of his opponent, James McLean. In case you feel like helping him along.
